The pool filter filters the water from the pool. The water is pulled from the pool via the two skimmers and the drain on the floor of the deep end, is filtered/heated, and returns through the return jets. The crud that gets filtered will clog the filter and backwashing the filter cleans it.
Diamanti backwashes the pool most service visits. If the pool is recovering from some sort of imbalance, the filter may clog up earlier. The main problem this causes is that the heater will refuse to work if the water flow is too low, and backwashing should clear this.
It's very important to keep an eye on the water level to make sure it doesn't get too low. Ideally the water level should be higher than halfway up the skimmer. If it looks like the water getting too low to enter the skimmer, you need to take action.
You can run the garden hose into the pool and leave it on for an hour or two. That should raise the water a little bit. It's probably best not to leave the water on for longer each day because the well needs time to recharge, especially during hot spells. The other option is to call Diamanti and they can order pool water to be delivered, although this can take a few days and is a little expensive.
