Theory of Operation
Our water comes from a well. The well is in the yard between the driveway and the lake.
There is a pump which pumps water from the well into the house. The water comes in at the laundry room. You'll see the pump switch on the wall underneath the window.
The water is pumped slowly into a blue tank. This tank has a rubber bladder inside which keeps the water under pressure. This is what creates water pressure in the house.
Water Pressure
There is a gauge on the tank which shows the current water pressure. It should be around 40 psi.
If you lose water pressure in the house, you may have used more water than the tank had available, and the pump is now slowly refilling the tank. The pressure gauge should drop and then slowly build up as the water in the tank is replaced. If it does not, that could indicate that the pump isn't working.
Hot Water
The hot water is provided by an electric hot water heater in the laundry room. The water heater has a display showing the current set temperature. This should be 120.
The water heater has a “vacation” mode which keeps the water at a cooler temperature to save electricity. When put back into normal mode, the water should heat back up to the normal temperature in an hour or two. The vacation/normal mode is set by buttons on the heater.
The heater can be controlled via wifi. Instructions to download and set up the app are on the front of the heater.
